Sanitise, check-in & maintain physical distancing
We have hand sanitising stations in our store entrance and at the counter. We also have disposable face masks available to those who need it.
To maintain physical distancing, we will have a limit of 12 people in-store and encourage everyone to keep 1.5 metres apart.
Follow our orange and green floor markers and be sure to stay safe.
We are working with the NSW Health Department to slow the spread of COVID-19. If you have been exposed, we will call you and ask you to self-quarantine at home based on when you were exposed.
Help us to keep you, our staff and the community safe, by leaving your contact details below at the check-in station. Thank you!
Why wearing masks in public is important for protection from COVID-19?
The main value of wearing a mask is to protect other people. If the person wearing the mask is unknowingly infected, wearing a mask will reduce the chance of them passing the virus on to others. For people at increased risk of severe COVID-19 themselves because of older age or chronic illness, physical distancing is most important. If you cannot maintain physical distance, wearing a mask is an important protective measure.
Browse books and shop safely
Our booksellers and a team of volunteers have joined forces to give our bookshop a makeover. Enjoy browsing our multilingual collection of children’s books in Arabic, Chinese, English, Hindi, Tagalog, Vietnamese and over 65 community languages and counting! We also have a growing collection of Young Adult novels, Adult Fiction and Non fiction, and Graphic Novels.
You’re welcome to browse through our newly refurbished shelves and pick up a book to read. And if you’re not ready to buy, please put the books in our ‘Books In Quarantine’ box or give it to one of our friendly book sellers so they can be cleaned and sanitised for other customers to enjoy.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Practice good hygiene
Whether you are in our shop, at home, at the shopping centre or anywhere, practising good hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
These are the simple things we can all do:
Wear a mask at work – there is increasing medical consensus that COVID-19 is transmitted through the air in tiny airborne particles as we breathe, cough, sneeze. A mask reduces your chances of being infected, or infecting others.
Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands (for at least 20 seconds) with soap and water. Wash the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails, and rinse well. You can clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser, if you don’t have soap and water handy.
Wash your hands before and after eating or preparing food, after going to the bathroom, or travelling on public transport. Regular hand-washing will kill any viruses that might be on your hands.
Dry your hands thoroughly, using paper towels.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, as much as possible.
Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
Avoid touching (shaking hands, for example) or standing too close to anyone. At least 1.5 metres’ distance is required.
Take care of your own health and be respectful of others
Practice social distancing by avoiding unnecessary contact to prevent the spread of the virus and be respectful of others.
Stay at home as much as possible and pay attention to what’s happening in your local community. Keep up to date with local news and health advice.
If you’ve recently travelled overseas, please practice self quarantine and stay at home for 14 days.
If you do start to feel unwell (such as a fever, a cough, or trouble breathing) please stay at home, and call your GP for medical advice. You should call ahead before attending a medical practice if you suspect you have the virus.
It is important to us that everyone in the community feel safe and welcome.
If you find these information useful, please share with people you know. Let’s all work together to stay healthy and keep each other safe.
