SOUND SYSTEM is a music performance program and talent incubator to showcase and develop musicians, song-writers and music producers in South Western & Western Sydney.
It is a program for live music; artistic development and presentation; skills-building and professional pathways; audience development; and community-based participation in music-making. It celebrates multilingualism and diverse musical heritage and influences.
SOUND SYSTEM strengthens the creation of high quality music, musical performance and music industry connections for local artists, while developing local audiences and providing rich and joyful musical experiences in community languages and English.

Sound System Music Residency
Celebrating artists who want to make new music in languages other than English and delivering creative guidance, mentoring and the opportunity to develop, record and perform. Through our partnership with Sydney Opera House, Contemporary Music and Vivid LIVE, Residents are exposed to the professional music industry and connected to an array of independent recording artists including Alphamama, Ariel Blum, Antonia Gauci, El Far2i, Marcus Whale, Okenyo and Vulli. With the support of a cash stipend and the opportunity to record a new bilingual track at Sydney Opera House, Residents also enjoy the combined production and marketing support of Think+DO Tank Foundation and Sydney Opera House to share their music with national and international audiences.

Sound System Masterclasses
Providing open-access opportunities and subsidised rates for local South Western and Western Sydney artists to attend day-long intensives in song-writing, music production, stagecraft and musicianship delivered by music industry leaders.
Sound System Presents
A program of live music in-store at LOST IN BOOKS, or in neighbourhood settings. Designed to promote a local culture of live multilingual musical performances that showcase emerging musicians, and that celebrates established musicians.
Sound System ON AIR
A 10-episode curated series that showcases live, original music performed by high profile culturally and linguistically diverse musicians, partnering with emerging musicians to create and exploration of musical heritage, identity and to encourage experimentation and cross-cultural exchange. Each episode is recorded for broadcast.
We Love Music
A proven way to promote development, motor skills, language and literature, our Baby Music Time features musical educators singing, dancing and playing with pre-schoolers, babies and their families. Delivered weekly from Lost In Books and online, in English and other languages.
